What is Direct Mail Marketing and how can you use it effectively to grow your business.

 

First of all direct mail marketing is one the most common form of marketing used today. True marketers have used direct marketing for many many years or even decades to be specific. It is, however, a proven method of marketing.

I guess you are wondering how do I use direct marketing to my advantage to grow my business. Well let’s take a look at it. For one thing, direct marketing can be a powerful tool and an addition to your current marketing program. But it does require quite a bit of research and planning to do it right.

For example understanding direct mail lead generation, direct mail lead generation is the most effective and profitable means to increase your monthly volume, and until you have an affordable, efficient and dependable means of attracting a sufficient flow of qualified buyers to you, you cannot any money, you will be frustrated and you certainly won’t be able to stay in business long. However once you understand those things, the benefits of direct mail marketing is powerful. Marketers have been using direct mail for decades, simply because it works. Direct mail marketing is a proven medium with a long history behind it. Because of this, direct mail marketing has its own set of best practices you can learn from. Even though direct mail marketing can be very effective in providing cost-effective leads to let’s say a marketing coach, it’s not as easy as it appears to be! Because direct mail doesn’t work as well as it used to because there is so much of it and because people have learned to ignore it.

The way I see it the biggest problem with any advertising today is that you have to fight for people’s attention by interrupting them. There’s too much going on in people’s lives for them to be interrupted. Everybody is busy these days. Even though more businesses are using direct mail, it can be less effective as well. Direct mail is a victim of its own success.

More small businesses are using direct mail, but fewer people are responding. But, when direct-mail works, it’s unbeatable! If you can find the right formula for your specific needs, direct mail can be magical.

That’s why I use postcards. Postcards are the least expensive way to do direct marketing for immediate results. I currently do direct marketing of postcards before I do any other type of direct mail marketing. I have found that prospective clients take notice, it is to the point and keep it longer than a letter.

When you use direct mail postcards as part of your marketing program, you should strive for constant improvements and higher response rates. Here are the steps involved in doing a direct mail marketing campaign.

  1. Start with an idea
  2. Get a good list
  3. Have a good headline
  4. Niche your postcard
  5. Make sure your message is clear
  6. Have one or more ways to sell your product or service
  7. Have a call to action
  8. Add an incentive
  9. Track your results

Tag Me on Facebook What?

facebook  What is this talk about Facebook tagging  people automatically? OMG, does that mean I will be be tagged regardless?

Are you on facebook? I know I am and facebook is always updating, improving or upsetting some folks when they make changes. This new feature will allow you to tag individuals without you having to manually do it. Wow!

Now here is my question? What if you don’t want to get tagged? Will this new software do this no matter what? Automatically tagging…hmmmmm I may have some concerns about this. I know people tag people anyway whether they get their permission or not. Nice software really! What else will Facebook do to make our lives easier? My thing with Facebook is when they make a changes and most of the time the changes are good, there is no tutorial to help you understand how the changes will effect your profile or even show you how to work the new feature. Or ways to make people a better social networker. They continue to improve (as they think) and if you don’t or can’t keep up with the technology you are left behind and then what happens, you just kinda leave your page alone and don’t keep your page updated.

 Well facebook, I think if the software allows you to not tag people that don’t want to be tagged, then you have something really great. However, if you have software that will tag people regardless, then you might have some concerns as time goes on and consumers may be leaving one of the largest social networking sites besides Twitter at a rapid pace.
